What Motivates You?

There are many reasons for working from home. Being home with your children, the extra money, flexible hours are just some of the reasons. I know that sometimes I think it would be easier to just not work and focus on being Mom. Others I fantasize about getting a full-time job and placing my daughter in daycare, being able to leave work at the office and focusing completely on her when I got home. I really love what I do though and given the chance to change things, I am not sure that I would.

Working from home has given me the best of both worlds. I have a chance to be there every day for my daughter and help her grow and develop as an individual. I don’t have to worry about hearing about her “firsts” secondhand. I don’t have to put her in the care of someone else.

Don’t get me wrong, I think that daycare and nannies offer a very valuable service to parents and children. Not everyone wants to stay home and some are unable to. I have friends that have their children in wonderful daycare centers and they love going. For me and my husband though, it is not the right option for our family.

Having a career is also very important to me. I love the mental stimulation, working with others and the paycheck. Our lifestyle would not be quite the same if I choose not to work. Sure it is sometimes hard to cram everything into a day but I find it worth it.

The smile on my daughter’s face as she stacks two blocks for the first time. Getting Kudos for a job well done by a client. Being able to stay in my pajamas all day. Having zero commute time. Those are some of the things that motivate me every day.

What motivates you every day? Why do you work from home? I’m sure your answers vary greatly and I would love to hear them.

Warmly,
Mia
