Hello my name is Mia and I am a work at home mom. Welcome to It’s a WAHM thing. We hope to offer you some really great advice about working from home and being a parent at the same time. I know firsthand the struggles WAHMs face in finding the perfect balance.

I have been working from home for the last three years. I have a 1 ½ year old daughter, a loving husband, and a faithful dog. I graduated from college in 2002 with a degree in business and I figured I would love the corporate world. The business lunches, the Blackberry, the great clothes. And then the reality set in. The long hours, the boring meetings that went on forever, the reports, the boss. I was really not happy.

My husband and I got married in 2004 and our thoughts turned to starting a family. We both worked long hours and barely had time for each other, let alone our future children. We knew that something had to change or someone else would have to raise our children for us. I decided that I wanted to have a plan in place before having a child.

I started researching ways to work from home. My company didn’t offer a telecommuting option. I needed to go a different route. I sat down and figured out what I really good at. I had always loved research and writing and decided to make a go of freelance writing. Through networking with friends and business contacts I was able to pick up some writing projects.

Soon I was able to have an income level that worked with my family’s budget. I was able to quit my old job and now I work completely from home. I have some steady work that I do and I pick up odds and ends here and there. I’m also a staff writed here at It’s a WAHM thing. I’m constantly working on learning new skills so I’m starting to dabble in the exciting world of Affiliate Marketing.

I hope that you stick around and watch us grow. I am excited to be a part of this new magazine for WAHMs. Grab a cup of tea, pull up a chair, and join us.

Warmly,
Mia
