My husband, daughter, mother-in-law and I all went out for dinner on Friday night at a local mall. We had some fabulous Chinese food sitting on the patio of the restaurant. It was a lovely dinner made even better by my daughter not needing to walk all over the restaurant. We were all able to enjoy our meal without getting up once.

I have found that working at home can be very lonely at times. My friends either have no children, they had kids ages ago and they are in school all day, or they work full-time and their children are in daycare. Not many opportunities for play dates there. Having a support structure of other moms with children about the same age as my daughter has been very important to me though.

One of the toughest things I face as a work at home mom is making time for me. I give so much to my daughter, to my husband, to my family and friends, and to my home. Very rarely do I put any focus on myself. It is definitely important to schedule regular “me” time though. I feel better for it and more motivated to get things done. Spring has finally arrived to my Midwestern home. It has been a very long winter and my daughter and I have been cooped up for a long time. It has been great to be able to get out of the house and play outside. Plus the novelty of being outside is allowing me the chance to get some work done. Going from working out of the home to becoming a work at home mom can be quite a transition. Having a traditional job generally means interacting with a multitude of people every day. From the barista at the coffee shop in the morning, to the people you work with, the person at the deli counter at lunch, to your dry cleaner, you encounter many different people and places.
