Today we are going to continue our discussion on finding the perfect direct sales business for you. Direct sales are a huge business, with some estimates saying they generate over $25 Billion in sales every year. It is possible if you find the right company to earn a good income while working from home.

Yesterday we discussed brainstorming things that you love and then searching for companies that sell those types of products. We also discussed getting a catalogue and product samples to see if the products are something that you think you could sell. There were also tips on searching for a consultant to sign up under. Today we will talk about deciding if the company is the right fit for you.

When choosing a direct sales company it is very important to research their compensation plan. Most companies use a straight forward plan that is easy to explain and understand. For example, you earn 25% of all sales you make and 3% of all sales of the sales consultants underneath you. If you have a hard time understanding a company’s compensation plan on paper, then sit down with a consultant and have them explain it to you. If you still don’t understand it, then it may be best to find a different company. You will have a hard time signing any consultants under you if you can’t explain the compensation plan and building a team of your own is a key to having a successful direct marketing business.

You also want to look into a company’s reputation. Ask your family and friends if they have heard of the company that you are considering. Find out how long they have been in business. Perform an internet search for “Company Name” + scam and look at the results. It would be rare to find a company that doesn’t have any complaints, but it is best to steer clear of companies with many disgruntled ex-consultants.

Lastly, take your time. Choosing a direct sales company is a big decision. Don’t feel pressured to sign up right away. Some companies employ a “sign up in the next two days to get the best deal” tactic. If it is truly the right company for you, it will be there when you are ready to sign up.

How did you know when you found the perfect company? Direct sales can an exciting business and a great way to work from home.

Warmly,
Mia
